We all have many hopes and desires. In fact, everyone I have ever met has at one point in their life had to literally stop what they were doing and think about what they really want! After that brief moment of introspection, only 12% actually sit down and write their goals on a piece of paper. Out of that 12% who write them down, only 10% post those goals where they can see them. Following that 10%, only 8% write a short, concise action plan of how to reach those goals. However, the next statistic is amazing. After writing and posting and then putting together an action plan, 98% of those folks attain their success!
For those in college, thank goodness for those academic counselors who help to guide students to the exact courses they need and print them out with a plan. For those who are planning a career or raising children, the path gets a little more sketchy. We want a complete and fulfilling life with all the trimmings, but when pressed to say exactly what those are and how we get there, there's no happy counselor with a print out to hand it to us. That's why vision boards are so powerful.
But first we have to cross that abyss called writing your goals, your serious goals; the goals that will change your life.
The Chinese have put a lot of thought into this! For 5,000 years the Chinese Feng Shui system is really a developed system of pratical balanced living. They have summarized all of mankind's hopes and desires into eight main aspirations. And they are correct! These make total common sense:
1. A loving and close family
2. Attaining career success
3. Good descendants
4. A good and respectable name
5. Enjoying good health
6. Knowledge and wisdom
7. Wealth
8. The protection of a powerful mentor
Each of these eight types of good fortune can be activated and strengthened using symbolic images that will enhance your life - known as your "feng shui" aka "good fortune". Images of auspicious animals, symbols, colors, works of art and elements of nature weave into a pathway for creating a powerful structure of balance in your life. This belief in nudging the flow of energy around us empowers us to stand up and seize our destiny. This is common Feng Shui knowledge to respect and move with energy. You don't have to understand all of it for it to work. Energy is out there moving; doing it's thing with or without you.
They call Feng Shui the art of placement. Using the list of 8 Aspirations as a placement template for your goals, your life energies flow into balance. Learning the placement of these symbols on your vision board gives those of us who seek some creative direction on goal setting a huge leap forward. Here is your "printout", my friends!
Yours in Feng Shui,
